So grab your witches broom, don your best Dracula cloak and let’s kickstart this year’s Halloween celebrations.
Halloween at Holkham
This year, the brilliant Holkham Hall will be hosting a special few days of Halloween magic. To begin, your children can look forward to decorating cakes with all sorts of spooky sugar webs, bats and bugs – horrifyingly delicious! Whilst they gobble up their cakes, they can then wander through the grounds, answering spooky questions during the haunted hall quiz and listening to the mystical tales of the storytellers. And if your kids are brave enough, there’s also an opportunity to get friendly with a host of creepy crawlies and reptiles, including spiders, snakes and lizards – yikes!
Horror at Sheringham Park
Just a short drive from Wells is Sheringham Park, a beautiful destination that really showcases the warm tones of the falling autumnal leaves. This year the park is hosting their own spooky trail, with plenty of exciting prizes to be won! You and your kids can look forward to listening to terrifying ghost stories, as you meander along the trail, looking out for clues. The event is between 22nd – 30th October, starts at 10am and finishes just after 4pm, making it perfect for your whole family – even your smallest!
Spooky eye spy at the railway!
During the Halloween week of 22nd October, Wells and Walsingham Railway will be hosting a terrifyingly good ghost train experience. To get involved, all you and your kiddies have to do is hop on board the train and keep your eyes peeled for any potions hidden along the line. But be careful, there are said to be plenty of ghouls waiting to say BOO as you whiz by.
Enjoy an autumnal day at the beach
In need of something to do during the day that doesn’t involve so much horror and fright? Although Wells’ beach is lovely during the summer, nothing quite beats an autumnal walk along the shore. Just imagine being wrapped up in your woolies, eating a box of delicious fish and chips from The Fisherman’s Yard, and sat admiring the blinding sunshine that ripples across the sea – total bliss. Plus, after you’ve polished off your supper you can join the rest of the town in trick or treating along the main promenade.
